Southwest Mississippi Community College was founded in 1908. It is a public community college in Summit, Mississippi, United States. The college first began as an agricultural high school. After receiving approval from the Pike County School Board, on the 3rd of September in 1918 the Pike County Agricultural High School was opened. In 1929 and 1932, the school began to incorporate college work into the curriculum and became a two-year junior college respectively. Also, the school’s name was officially changed in 1988 to Southwest Mississippi Community College to meet the educational and public needs of its district.

Since its inception, the college has had seven presidents; J.M Kenna 1918; H.D Pickens July 1947; Clyde H. Snell July 1948; Charles C.
