Merit Awards And Financial Aid

Merit Awards

Financial incapability is not the only eligibility criterion considered for scholarships. Talent and academic performance are other important criteria.

Some scholarship bodies that use GPA to consider students eligible only consider GPAs that range from 2.0 to 3.75 or even higher to give room for more competition. Having a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher increases the chances of qualifying for scholarships. A minimum price of $500 or up to $2000 is presented to successful applicants. Note: awarded prices aren’t stable, there could be more.

Financial Aid

Financial aid opportunities range from scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study opportunities. All these opportunities are given to students to help reduce the stress of worrying about tuition fees, and some other college fees.

Filling the FAFSA application form is required when it comes to applying for any financial aid opportunities.

In the situation of loans, they’re borrowed by students or parents and have to be returned with an interest. The ease education loans offer is that they’re refunded with a little interest.

Scholarships are granted based on a student’s academic performance, and there is no need for a refund. Grants also do not need to be returned as they’re also based on a demonstration of financial need. Lastly, work-study opportunities when granted to eligible students allow them to earn money to take care of educational expenses by providing a part-time job on the school campuses.

Nova Community College assists students in making scholarships and grants easier to get for their students. The college helps to work the students through the types of financial aid available and how to apply for them.
