Job Description

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director, Security Program, the Senior Project Manager has accountability for the end-to-end delivery of security projects. This role will be accountable to initiate, plan, and govern projects through to execution including operational handover. The candidate is accountable to remove barriers and facilitate solutions to achieve project and departmental goals. More strategically, the Senior Project Manager will be responsible for understanding the longer-term objectives of our security function, and leverage project delivery best practices and methodology to provide the required solutions.

Accountabilities:

Project Management

• Owns the end-to-end initiative delivery ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and within the required quality.
• Ensures that appropriate organization, governance, decision making, and delivery structures are in place to drive outcomes articulated in the business case, business requirements, and defined program/project charter.
• Develop project plans that effectively align scope, time, cost, quality, resources, risk, communication, and procurement in a manner that enables highly coordinated execution and control.
• Ensure that standard and best practice for project management processes are applied to plan and execute initiatives with high complexity and risk.
• Perform regular delivery risk reviews and support the project teams with escalations and resolutions as required.
• Establish project structure and reporting relationships
• Work closely with the Security Sponsors and Security Executive Sponsors to define the project delivery approach, from project intake, to conception, estimation, planning and implementation.
• Responsible for governance of project budgets, working closely with the Security, Risk and Crisis Management Business Office and IT Finance.
• Collaborate with the SRC Business Office and Sourcing on vendor contracting and management.
• Works closely with the Security Architecture on ensuring that a sound and future proof architecture is planned, and its implementation meets the technical quality standards, approach, and methodology.
• Work closely with technical leadership from project initiation to implementation.
• Ensures operational readiness is in place and any transition to operations teams takes place.
• Ensure that everybody understands the project goals and roles and responsibilities, encouraging good working relationships among all project team members and motivated to resolve conflicts
• Organize and maintain effective communication, both internal (within project team) and external (with project stakeholders and business partners)
• Ability to work in a multi-site /multi time-zone environment.

Stakeholder Management

• Strong understanding of business areas drivers and priorities
• Establish long-term partnerships with the IT and Business partners
• Organize and maintain effective communication, both internal (within project team) and external (with project stakeholders and business partners)
• Facilitate project prioritization and decisions

Support the Information Security Project Management Practice:

• Creates reusable process or work products
• Make/propose improvements to current delivery methodology, work products, services or processes
• Effectively coach/counsel others and provide feedback to improve performance
• Demonstrate effectiveness in project delivery by organizing and delivery complex work efforts

Skills and Experience Requirements:

• 5+ years of project management experience, or similar accreditation
• Strong domain exposure to Information Security / Cyber Security
• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage large initiatives with multiple functional and technical capabilities
• Experience working in Lean / Agile / Scrum methodologies for enterprise IT delivery.
• Mixture of strong business acumen and project delivery skills.
• Managing and developing high performing project teams
• Excellent communication (both written and verbal) with the ability to effectively negotiate with senior stakeholders.
• Experienced with making presentations to large groups and senior stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience managing projects which involve 3rd party managed services.
• Experience in leading offshoring and global projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing customer expectations when leading projects.
• Effective problem-solving and analytical skills with strong process management knowledge
• Ability to resolve conflicting situations.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Project, Visio, Powerpoint and Excel
• Strong sense of “Team.”

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
