About this opportunity…
We are looking for a skilled & professional ‘Maintenance Team Member’ who can continue to ensure our residents happiness and safety, by keeping our care homes running smoothly. It’s important that our homes create the right impression in every way possible.
You will work with the maintenance team to keep a fully operational and well-presented environment, someone who is experienced in good property maintenance and repair duties from plumbing, carpentry, painting, and decoration. You will need to be able to turn your hand to a vast range of general repairs, completing to a high standard, that will also include maintaining equipment used through the homes.
You will be required to complete (with training support) the National Care Certificate Qualification, enhancing your skill set further, supporting you to work within our homes, for our wonderful residents.

· Annual basic salary over £35,250 (based on 42.5 hours per week)
· Highly competitive basic hourly rate of pay £15.95 per hour (with paid breaks)

The role…
The maintenance team member is supervised by and answerable to our Facilities Manager.
•    To carry out internal and external repairs to properties with minimal disturbance to the residents.
•    Ensure the properties are kept in good decorative order at all times.
•    To ensure all properties and gardens, car park, and paths are safe in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
•    To maintain gardens in accordance with requirements of the home
•    Drive minibus transporting staff to/from work plus residents on outings, requires holding a D1 Licence (to be discussed at interview)
•    To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety guidelines and risk assessments.
•    Be competent to manage small repairs to properties including plumbing repairs, blocked drains etc.
•    To follow Manager’s instructions on what jobs are to be completed
•    Be prepared to attend continual professional development in all areas of Health & Safety regulations and Risk Assessment.
•    To ensure that you carry a phone at all times whilst working to be able to communicate with staff throughout the home.
•    To use initiative to suggest ways of ensuring that high standards of repair are maintained.
•    To follow fire procedures
•    To support and promote core values of residents, i.e. privacy, dignity, independence, choice, fulfilment and rights.
•    To always show loyalty to the company and to the residents.
The role requires you to be reliable working full time approx. 42.5 hours per week between Monday and Friday, weekends on a requirement-only basis, not regular.

We would like you…
· To have a minimum of 3 years hand on experience in a form of maintenance and general repairs, or building/electrical/plumbing qualification
. To have a good understanding of building services including, heating, electrical distribution and plumbing
. To have a good understanding of general/small property maintenance and repair
. To be flexible to meet the demands of care home environments
. To be experienced in painting and decorating
. To have previous PAT testing knowledge would be desirable 
· To be able to use a full range of tools and be able to evidence experience of doing so
· To have empathy for our residents, treat them as if they were your own family
· Be happy to communicate well with others and work well within a team 
· To hold a clean D1 licence. (discussed at interview)
· To enjoy your role and feel rewarded both financially and personally

· To be empathetic, understanding, caring and approachable
· To be knowledgeable in both elderly and dementia care but not essential
