Unskilled Jobs in The UK For Foreigners

Unskilled Jobs in The UK For Foreigners

Unskilled jobs are those kinds of jobs that don’t require you to have any special skill to carry out. These kinds of jobs are available in every country because there are menial jobs to be performed which require no form of training, skill, or formal education. And so, individuals with little or no special skill use this opportunity to earn a living. Some examples of unskilled jobs include cashiers, grocery clerks, and cleaners.

Even though there is a need for unskilled workers, the advancements in technology today have made a greater demand for skilled laborers than unskilled laborers. Also, many countries prefer to welcome foreigners who are highly skilled because they are proven to have a positive impact on the country’s economy.

The UK is one of those countries that welcome more skilled foreigners than unskilled. Unskilled foreigners are welcome in the UK on the condition that they meet 70% of the criteria stated in the UK tier visa system. Above all, one of the biggest challenges faced by foreign unskilled job seekers is getting an unskilled job while still in their home country.

Because we understand your needs, we have taken the time to put out this article on unskilled jobs in the UK for Foreigners, the best paying unskilled jobs, and how to find them.

Immigration To UK Tier Visa System Is Categorized into Five Ways

The UK tier visa system is a points-based visa category. This visa system is categorized in five ways which have been highlighted below.

Under the UK tier Visa system for migration, the employment system has been broken into five tiers

First Tier – Referred to highly skilled/valued immigrants.

Second Tier – Skilled workers.

Third Tier – Low/Unskilled.

Fourth Tier – Students aged 16 and above.

Fifth Tier – Temporary workers: charity workers, religious workers, International agreement etc.

But since our focus is on unskilled labor, we will be looking at Tier 3. You can check here to know more about the other tiers.

TIER 3

According to Birmingham Live, those classified as “unskilled” are those earning below £25,600 and will no longer be allowed to work in the UK. However, it was stated that workers could come to the UK if they were sponsored by an employer and met the points-based criteria as listed below.

  1. Job applicants must earn at least £25,600 in the job offer. Also, there may be concessions for those earning no less than £20,480 if they still meet certain requirements, or their occupation is short of staff.
  2. In the tier 3 visa system, applicants must pass a minimum number of points on an assessment test to be eligible for a visa.
  3. It allows workers to enter the UK with a sponsor. That is, you need a certificate for sponsorship before applying.
  4. It also allows you to apply for an indefinite leave of permanent residency. However, as an unskilled worker, you will be given a visa for 12 months, and you won’t be allowed to bring any relation, spouse, or family member with you into the country.
  5. Also, in tier 3 there is no language requirement for workers although your employer may want you to speak at least basic English.

But currently, Tire 3 is on indefinite hold by the UK government.
