One thing that made me interested in computer science is the dynamic nature of the subject. The fact that information used today will likely upgrade in the next few years has kept me interested in this subject since I was young. In 2006, I turned my teenage dreams into actions when I began my quest for a degree in computer science, and 4 years later my efforts was crowned with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science.
Upon completion of my BSc in Computer Science (IT Option), I gained application for my knowledge at xxx where I began my career in the position of a Network Surveillance Specialist. It was through this experience that I developed my skills in evaluating and recommending proper response procedures to IT issues. After three years as a Network Specialist, I developed transferable skills that enabled me to progress into a new role in Network Operations Management. After 2 years overseeing the network operations of xxx, I began to reconsider my career prospects, and the path that will give me steady career growth while I build a long-term consulting career. I decided to take up a new job as a Cyber Security Analyst as it will correctly position me in a place to hone my existing skills while preparing me for a future productive career.
In the past 3 years performing internal and external security audits to avert cyber threats, we have recorded exponential growth in the activities of the clients we are rendering IT services to. More so, there has been an equivalent rise in organized cyber attacks on our servers and that of our clients. This has caused the company to beef up its security protocol and has led to workers seeking advanced knowledge in cyber security, to meet the recent demands of the industry.
I have considered the Cyber Security Master’s Program of the University of Bradford because I find the school’s program structure ideal for me; given that the program entails a learning approach that involves the use of case studies to complement classroom learning. This makes me more confident that I’ll graduate from this program with competencies rooted not only in abstract knowledge but also in practical understanding of how to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-life setting.
My previous degree, career experience, and professional skills developed make me confident that I will be a great addition to this programme. If accepted, I will be joining this program with over 8 years of experience in the IT sector which has given me enough experience to proffer ideas and contributions that will benefit my class during classroom lessons, and group works.
