The demand for reflective learning and teaching experiences for students and educators has evolved. From balancing the use of technology to enhance the learning experience to adopting different teaching styles to accommodate learners, the demands on modern teachers have unarguably taken a new turn, making me seek knowledge in different teaching components that were not extensively covered during my first degree. I am interested in extensive knowledge that will give me improved knowledge of what I gained during my first degree; secondly, I desire to upgrade my academic qualification seeing that I have already spent a good number of years in the professional scene, and I am beginning to approach managerial level.
Studying and obtaining this master’s degree will enable me to concentrate on administration. I gained my first degree in Educational Management/Economics (Bachelor) and developed the teaching competencies that I transferred to my corporate work upon completion. Since my graduation, I have found application for my knowledge through two different teaching employments where I have been responsible for enhancing student learning through the combination of curricular and extra-curricular activities. In 2012 I was invited to join the administration of a Fast Moving Consumable Goods company on a part-time basis. I applied my teaching knowledge to train and inspire the staff members to ensure the effective execution of their responsibilities. Through this experience, I strengthened my leadership skills, and boosted my confidence in making administrative decisions; initially, it was tasking combining my full-time teaching job with the part-time administrative work, over time, I developed other competencies that have helped me balance things.
Due to my experience, I have weighed the importance of upgrading my ability to make an impact in my career through the application of modern teaching tools, and I have resolved to enroll for a master’s at this point in my career. My decision to study in the United Kingdom stems from my love for the amount of investment and commitment that the United Kingdom Government makes to education. I believe the United Kingdom offers the best location not only to develop academic knowledge but more importantly, to learn about education. Furthermore, the conducive environment, and accommodating citizens help to create an admirable learning culture that I look forward to tapping into.
The University of East London is my preferred school for this degree because the school’s program modules combine current policies, theories, and research to develop well-rounded educators. Secondly, the course modules for this program are flexible which will allow me to pick from the optional modules that suit my core areas of interest such as;………….
