Operational leadership opportunity in the Primary Butchery department at our Pacific site in Whakatu, Hastings.

Te Tūranga /About the Role

As a Team Leader in Primary Butchery at our Pacific site, you will be responsible for providing operational support to your team on the floor by proactively supporting them to meet their daily production requirements, as well as observing and monitoring quality and safety compliance. With the support of the leadership team, you will have the chance to drive continuous improvement initiatives and grow your career with a range of development opportunities.

This is a night shift position and interested applicants will need to be available Monday to Friday 3pm – mid night, as well as some additional overtime in peak season.

Te Mahi /Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate what food safety, quality and compliance requirements are specific to your team and actively observe the chain to ensure these are maintained at all times
  • Train and coach members of your team to understand what specifications and production targets mean and how they relate to the team member’s work
  • Organise daily production requirements in conjunction with your manager and clearly communicate this with your team

The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities and experience from their time in the manufacturing, FMCG or primary industries; and be driven by building a safe, quality focused and positive culture within their team. They will be confident with identifying areas for improvement within the plant and have a desire to progress their career in the red meat industry where opportunities are endless. There will be opportunity for the right candidate to progress through the business with support and developmental training.

  • Passionate about inspiring others; and providing personal and professional development opportunities to team members
  • Display leadership qualities and proactively drive a strong culture that aligns with Silver Fern Farms values – Unstoppable Together, Improving Tomorrow and Always Caring
  • Experience in the food processing industry would be beneficial
  • Basic computer literacy and strong communication skills
