Job Description

The ideal candidate will be patient and friendly with excellent communication skills. Clients has mobility and communication challenges therefore you should be able to follow instructions and have patience understanding and performing a variety of tasks. A local person would be most suitable, transport would be beneficial but not necessary as Client lives close to main bus services to and from Aberdeen.

The Client is very active with a great sense of fun and humour, this is a physical disabled person only.

Responsibilities

• Remind client to take prescribed medication
• Assist client with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
• Help with Clients pets.
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the disabled person
• Accompany them when they shop
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any incidents in a timely manner
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Skills

• Proven experience as a caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate
• Good time management skills
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong ethics
• Physical endurance
• High school diploma or equivalent

Duties:

• Charting or taking notes for others to review
• Providing companionship and supportive listening
• Observing and reporting any changes in the health or status of the patient
• Responding to emergency situations
• Accompanying and transporting patients to appointments and/or social events
• Facilitating community and recreational outings, including transport
• Providing support with hobbies, studies, and social activities
