The Opportunity:

We have a fantastic opportunity for motivated self-starters to join our roading team in the Tumut Region.  This role contributes to the wider Tumut team through constructions and ongoing maintenance of our strategic road network, in particular haulage routes, to ensure timber products are moved safely and timely from the forest and to customers delivery points. The role also plays a vital role in fire preparedness by maintaining our fire trail network.

About the Role

 As the Plant Operator you will need to effectively operate a range of plant and heavy vehicles under general direction on a wide range of forest road operations, ensure the plant and vehicles are operated and maintained in a safe and effective manner in compliance with required environmental and safety standards.

We would love you to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in operating heavy plant machinery in a safe manner ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards (demonstrable Dozer and/or Grader experience is desirable).
  • A great attitude to roll up your sleeves and get the job done along with the willingness to listen, learn and apply yourself.
  • Be willing to upskill on other heavy plant
  • Knowledge and experience in road construction, maintenance techniques and quality control
  • The ability to read maps and navigate, interpret instructions and operational plans and record basic field data
  • Perform daily heavy plant prestart inspections and report maintenance requirements
  • Good verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Hold a current Heavy Rigid Driver’s Licence (Heavy Combination is desirable)
  • Ability or willingness to use iPad and/or computers for administrative tasks
  • Capacity to undertake firefighting as required and work after hours, specifically operating heavy plant on a fire line and to maintain sufficient fitness for the job.
