Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. There are some onsite requirements. The employer is willing to pay a starting salary at the top end of the salary range depending on qualifications and years of experience and in accordance with the employer policies. The days and hours of work for this position are Monday – Friday during core business hours.

Occupational Health Nurse

$73,874.72 – $93,685.11 annually

The Workplace Health and Safety Branch (WHS) provides the BC Public Service with health planning and promotion, occupational safety, occupational health and rehabilitation and disability benefits administration services. The mandate of WHS is to build a workforce culture of safety and health, by delivering services and information to public service managers and employees that support them to manage their health and improve workforce productivity.

The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) manages disability cases, provides advice, support and coordination of resources for employees and their supervisors.  The OHN identifies opportunities for early intervention, to help ill and injured employees return to sustainable work as quickly and as safely as possible.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Registered nurse, or a nursing degree from an approved School of nursing.
  • Occupational health nursing education OR equivalent occupational health education.
  • Must have or be immediately eligible to obtain registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), formerly known as the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
  • Six (6) months or more of occupational health nursing experience.
  • Six (6) months or more of disability case management experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with:

  • Certificate in occupational health nursing OHN(C) and/or specialized training in occupational health.
  • Active membership in an occupational health nurses’ professional practice group and participation in continuing education, related to disability case management.
