Job Description

The Village of Glendale Heights Leisure Services Department has a position available for a full-time Groundskeeper. This position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair and operations of public buildings, grounds, open spaces, parks and playgrounds.

Qualifications

Duties include: mows and trims grass, pulls weeds, plants and maintains flower beds, assists in the maintenance, trimming, removing, chipping, watering and inspecting of trees and shrubs, assists in top-dressing, soil conditioning and seeding of various park areas and open space. Snow shoveling of sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and bicycle paths. Cleans and maintains tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, pathways and other outdoor sport facilities. Maintains baseball, soccer, football and other outdoor athletic fields including mowing, dragging, lining, and leveling. Inspects and repairs sports field equipment, such as goal posts, benches and bleachers.

Assists in manual labor involved in construction and maintenance projects, performs assigned duties as required for outdoor parks and grounds facilities, sets up and takes down equipment and prepares facilities for various park and recreation programs use. Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, repairs and maintenance activities including daily time sheets.

Hourly Rate: $18.98 – $26.96, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Village of Glendale Heights offers full-time employees a generous benefit package including health and dental insurance. This is a Teamsters union, non-exempt position.
