Finance Assistant

£25,000 p.a. FTE

30 hours (can be flexible)

Are you looking for a practical and varied finance role in a charitable organisation? Do you have an AAT level 2 qualification or equivalent, and relevant work experience? Autism Hampshire is seeking a Finance Assistant to join its Finance Team at Head Office in Whiteley. The successful candidate will work alongside another Finance Assistant to manage all the transactional processes of the charity’s finances, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and cashbook.

The role is in a small, friendly team which supports the rest of the charity with its finances. These include a wide range of activities such as residential and supported living services, information and guidance, training, mentoring, projects, fundraising and events.


To support and assist the Financial Controller in responding to the charities requirements of the Finance Department. The responsibilities will be split between two Finance assistants, working within the department.

Working in a small Head Office environment, the post is ideally suited to someone who has experience in Book-keeping/accounting at AAT Level 2 or equivalent and with good organisational, analytical and computer skills.

Essential Requirements:


  • Book-keeping/accounting at AAT Level 2 (or equivalent)

Knowledge and Capability

  • Experience of working in a Finance/Accounting environment
  • Credit control
  • Maintaining proper and accurate records
  • Sales Ledger processing
  • Purchase Ledger processing
  • Nominal Ledger maintenance
  • Assisting in preparation of financial information and analysis.
