About Us
Barks and Recreation dog daycare is based in Coburg North, just off busy Sydney Road. We have been open since July 2022 and have quickly developed a reputation for providing a high quality, safe and personalised daycare experience. We pride ourselves on the strong relationships we build with our dogs, as well as their owners, and our number one priority is always the wellbeing of the dogs in our care. Barks and Recreation operates within the Victorian Code of Practice for the Operation of Boarding Establishments – meaning that we have safe, legal staff-to-dog ratios and numbers of dogs per pen.
About You
We are seeking an exceptional animal attendant to assist in providing the highest quality daycare for our dogs. As an animal attendant at Barks and Recreation, you must have a passion and natural affinity for dogs of all sizes and breeds, a willingness to work as part of a team to ‘get the job done’, effective communication to ensure important information is passed on to other staff and dog owners, physical fitness to work quickly and remain on your feet for your entire shift, the ability to remain calm and multi task in a fast paced environment, and an understanding that as someone that works with dogs all day, you are going to get dirty, smelly and spend a lot of the day cleaning!
The Role
- Active supervision and enrichment of groups of dogs of various sizes, breeds and temperaments.
- Manage a range of behaviours to maintain overall wellbeing and safety.
- Maintain high levels of hygiene through regular spot cleaning of dog messes, general cleaning of facilities and a thorough end-of-day clean.
- Monitor and report any health and behaviour concerns.
- Greet clients at pick-up and drop-off and provide feedback on their dog’s day.
- Create social media content through videos and photos.
- Follow strict cleaning/disinfecting processes to maintain the health of the dogs in our care.
The successful applicant must have:
- Strong multi-tasking skills and physical fitness. You will be actively supervising, ensuring the safety of and providing enrichment for groups of up to 17 dogs of various sizes, temperaments and breeds whilst also keeping on top of dog messes, creating content for social media and assisting other staff members as needed.
- Previous experience working with groups of dogs, including large breeds. Experience working within a dog daycare setting is preferred.
- Relevant qualifications e.g. Animal Studies, Companion Animals, dog training, etc.
- Sufficient physical fitness to meet the manual handling requirements. This role requires you to be on your feet for long hours, spend a lot of time cleaning, handle large breeds of dogs and complete tasks quickly.
