This position performs specialized technical work in implementing security measures to protect the University’s technology infrastructure. The Cyber Security Analyst will monitor the network and provide early warnings of abnormalities or problems. Analyze existing security systems and make recommendations for changes or improvements. Prepare reports and action plans if a security incident occurs. Work also involves organizing and conducting tests of the existing security architecture. Exercise initiative and independent judgment in all phases of work. Reports to the Chief Information Officer.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES
- Develops plans to implement, upgrade, and monitor security measures for the protection of the University’s computer information systems.
- Safeguards computer systems against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure to meet information processing needs.
- Monitors use of data files and regulate access to safeguard information.
- Monitors current reports of computer viruses, malware and threats to determine when to update or upgrade security protection systems.
- Works with the Network Communications Enterprise Systems teams to interpret and analyze log information from various security hardware and software systems.
- Reviews information and act accordingly to limit and remove security risks and mitigate unauthorized access or breaches.
- Documents computer security and emergency measures, policies, procedures, and tests.
- Confers with University users to discuss issues such as computer data access needs, security violations, and application security modification measures.
- Reviews violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated.
- Creates and promotes a cyber security awareness plan to ensure computer systems security and to improve overall security posture.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, Information Technology, Computer Science or comparable technology.
Certifications/Licenses
- CISSP, CASP, or SANS GSEC preferred.
- Valid state Driver’s License
Working security knowledge and experience of the following:
o Firewalls
o Windows
o Linux
o Networking
o Microsoft Office 365 suite
o Data Protection
Designing creating and implementing Security Controls and Regulations including but not limited to CMMC Program, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), DFARS, HIPPA and FERPA
Understanding of NIST compliance
Facilitation with security mechanisms at the client and networking levels
Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
