Care Manager Skills
Care managers need a range of different skills because the role varies enormously. Alongside these care manager skills, you also need to have the appropriate qualities for a career in social care. These include being compassionate, empathetic and highly adaptable to changing needs. A care manager also needs to understand the importance of confidentiality because they handle sensitive and personal information on a daily basis. The most important care manager skills include:
Communication skills for communicating effectively with staff, residents and families.
Relationship building and interpersonal skills for building lasting relationships with staff, residents, families and external organisations or partners.
Organisation and time management skills for prioritising your own workload and the workloads of staff members.
Leadership and management skills for managing a team of care workers effectively.
Numeracy skills for budgeting.
Writing skills for written reports and records.
Skills for understanding regulatory requirements and your responsibilities relating to this.
Requirements
Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma/Certificate in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Language Requirement: Communication skills in English and Urdu/Arabic/African languages

Salary expectations: £27,000 – 30,000 per year – depending on qualifications and experience.
