We are a huge yet dynamic organisation employing over 15,000 people and we spend in excess of £1 billion each year delivering council services across North Yorkshire. We own multi-million pound turnover companies that operate in the private sector building broadband infrastructure, building and maintaining roads and disposing of and recycling waste. Our Finance Team also administer the North Yorkshire Pension Fund, managing the scheme and investing its multi-billion pound assets. Although focussed on supporting our local communities across North Yorkshire we very much have a national and global outlook.
This is an exciting opportunity for professionals qualified to at least level 4 AAT or equivalent qualification to join an ambitious team. We are entering a period of considerable change and transformation as eight councils merge into one in April 2023 as a result of Local Government Reorganisation in the county. You will make a real contribution, stretching your abilities to overcome challenges and benefitting from the resulting opportunities and rewards. Your workload will be diverse offering many opportunities to channel your talents and develop your career as you could be:
- supporting improvement projects
- helping departments to set accurate budgets for the services they deliver
- supporting the production of management and statutory accounts
- investigating and responding to financial questions from Budget Managers
- involved in developing our commercial effectiveness
- influencing the design, development and implementation of new processes
- working with our IT colleagues to ensure we maximise the potential of our extensive suite of finance systems including Oracle and SAGE
